Montse Cortes, gypsy cantaora, shared the stage with the greatests : Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Antonio Canales, Farruquito, La Paquera de Jerez… She grew up in the neighborhood of La Mina in Sant Adrià de Besos, singing for dancers in the flamenco clubs in Barcelona “El Cordobés” and “Carmen Amaya” where she was discovered by the famous dancer Antonio Canales. Her catalan roots are translated artistically in a solid character, feisty and almost tangible sincerity. After her album “Alabanza” where she let in the jazz influences, the artist liberates on her last ambum a voice of an surprinsing expressivity. On stage, the emotion is undeniable : impossible to not give way to the vibrant melodies and her passionate interpretation. Her last opus “La Rosa Blanca”, nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards, reveals her art’s richness : her voici can’t get any more flamenca, her her tone more gypsy, performance more authentic.
