The piano becomes flamenco and flamenco sounds like something new thanks to David Peña Dorantes. This musician from Seville (Lebrija 1969) has the courage to explore with success an until now unknown path in flamenco, nonetheless, without betraying the teachings of a family with lineage and of a well known name inside of the traditional music of Andalusia.
Even though his genealogical tree proves his undeniable deep rooted feeling for flamenco (grandson of La Perrata, son of Pedro Peña, nephew of Juan Peña “El Lebrijano” and relative of Fernanda and Bernarda de Utrera), this pianist has been able to enthrall everyone by his own merit.
He is scrupulous about technique, innovative in the composition and perfect in the execution. Dorantes already is a name with capital letters in the world of flamenco.
